Thyroid and Weight Gain
Whatever causes changes to make thyroid run on low, consequences happen. The pathway to thyroid weight gain involves changes in brain chemistry (brain fog), carb cravings, weight gain, low energy, depressed mood among other symptoms. Low thyroid hormone levels lead to altered serotonin and beta-endorphin. GABA and other neurotransmitters that regulate appetite, energy and mood can also be affected.
Thyroid conditions affect other glands as well, especially adrenal glands. Together these two glands support our energy production and weight control. Especially when levels are low.
