Cytokines

What are cytokines?  Did you know you had them?  We all do!  They are important chemical messengers.  Known as proteins that are produced by white blood cells.  They perform serveral important functions.  Cytokines allow our bodies to maintain homeostasis.  Cytokines can cause the immune system to increase the production of T-cells (for a short time) to combat an infection.  This helps to bring the bacteria under control.
Blood testing is available and very valuable in diagnosing autoimmune disorders and underlying causes of chronic inflammatory diseases.
